Sainsbury’s customers needed an easier way to shop, a way to order their groceries while they were away from their computer and/or were time precious.
Create a native mobile application that is intuitive to any user no matter what their cognitive ability. To be able to perform a grocery shop and have it delivered to a destination of their choice or collected in person from any Sainsbury’s store.
At the time of producing this app design systems were not in the mainstream which made consistency more difficult which is why, if I had to design this product again, a design system would be the first thing I would install. Unfortunately our UX resource was light so we made the most of the UX designer when we had her which gave me more of an insight into this area.
On the plus side we did have a good user tester base of 100 customers who regularly gave us invaluable feedback which I feel is key to any product pre-launch.The agile team of UI, devs and testers was a good one, the scrum master and product owner worked close and communication was concise and clear.
